What the ZUGFeRD check covers

Upload a ZUGFeRD / Factur-X PDF or its CII XML above. For a PDF, the embedded invoice XML is read first. It is then checked against the schema and the EN 16931 business rules. We also check the attachment metadata and, where available, PDF/A-3. An ordinary PDF without embedded XML is not an e-invoice and is reported as unsupported; see PDF without XML.

Profiles and limits

Factur-X 1.09 / ZUGFeRD in the EN 16931 (COMFORT) profile is fully supported. Other profiles such as MINIMUM, BASIC WL or EXTENDED are explicitly marked unsupported or partially checked rather than shown as valid. Files up to 10 MiB; encrypted PDFs are not read. A technically valid result does not guarantee tax correctness or recipient acceptance.

After the check

The instant check shows the verdict and the leading findings with explanations. The check runs in your browser and the file is not uploaded. The independent PDF/A-3 check needs the server and runs in the free workspace, so a PDF checked here is at most partially checked. The free workspace shows every finding and readable field and lets you track a correction. For formats see ZUGFeRD / Factur-X and choosing a format.
